New Zealand Diploma in Health & Wellbeing
(Practice/Applied Practice) (Level 5)

• Applicant must be 18 years of age at the start of the programme.

• Recommended to hold one of the following qualifications, or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience. *
  - Have completed certificate in Healthcare Level 3; OR *
  - Successful completion of NCEA Level 2 or 3; OR *
  - Other equivalent education; OR *
  - Appropriate work experience in the healthcare sector
   

• When English is an applicant’s second language, they must have achieved IELTS score of 5.5 (average) with no band lower than 5.0 (or equivalent*).

Employment outcomes 

Graduates of this qualification will have the skills and knowledge required to work in vocational roles, disciplines or  contexts such as:

Consumer Advocacy, Disability Practice, Navigation/Navigator, Social Services, Counselling, Iwi Services, Mental Health Support, Youth Work in a range of settings such as non-governmental organisations, justice/corrections, social services, residential and community care and support services. Example of Job titles would include Residentialcare Worker, Family Support Worker, Disability Services Worker, Community Health Assistant, Healthcare Assistant, Kaiawhina   Hauora, Mental Health Support Worker, etc.
 

Employment Locations would include Commuity Support Centres, Rest homes, and Aged care facilities, Public Health Organisations, Hospitals, Iwi Support centres, Disability Support Centre, etc. Employees and volunteers may be required to undergo ongoing checks to ensure they are a fit and proper person to provide support in the health and wellbeing   sectors.
