(Practice/Applied Practice) (Level 5)

Duration: 44-48 weeks (40 Academic + 4-8 break weeks) (including 4 weeks summer break depending on intake start date)
Classes are held 3 days in a week.
Locations offered: Auckland City, Manukau & Christchurch
Related Learning Experience: 300 hours minimum (15 weeks of 24 hours per week) of Clinical Placement.
Fees:
Domestic - $6,110 (Fees Free, Student loans and allowances available for eligible students)
International - $22,125 NZD
Includes Compulsory student services fees (CSSF)

Support the community and Whฤnau by becoming a part of New Zealand's Healthcare Industry. This course prepares and trains students to deliver professional healthcare to patients in an aged care. disability or community setting, in accordance with Tikanga Maori Principle. As a part of the course, student enjoy 300 Hours of clinical placement.
Fees-Free, Student Loans and Allowances are available for eligible New Zealand Citizens and Permanent Residents.
Entry Requirement

Applicant must be 18 years of age at the start of the programme.

Recommended to hold one of the following qualifications, or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience. *
- Have completed certificate in Healthcare Level 3; OR *
- Successful completion of NCEA Level 2 or 3; OR *
- Other equivalent education; OR *
- Appropriate work experience in the healthcare sector

When English is an applicant’s second language, they must have achieved IELTS score of 5.5 (average) with no band lower than 5.0 (or equivalent*).

Employment outcomes
Graduates of this qualification will have the skills and knowledge required to work in vocational roles, disciplines or contexts such as:
Consumer Advocacy, Disability Practice, Navigation/Navigator, Social Services, Counselling, Iwi Services, Mental Health Support, Youth Work in a range of settings such as non-governmental organisations, justice/corrections, social services, residential and community care and support services. Example of Job titles would include Residentialcare Worker, Family Support Worker, Disability Services Worker, Community Health Assistant, Healthcare Assistant, Kaiawhina Hauora, Mental Health Support Worker, etc.
Employment Locations would include Commuity Support Centres, Rest homes, and Aged care facilities, Public Health Organisations, Hospitals, Iwi Support centres, Disability Support Centre, etc. Employees and volunteers may be required to undergo ongoing checks to ensure they are a fit and proper person to provide support in the health and wellbeing sectors.
